Tools for OwningYour Spotlight

When you have a business, service or product, inextricably you are your brand, and your brand is you. And frankly, as Simon Sinek often says, people buy because of your WHY, and less about your what. They buy because of who you are.

Buying is an emotional decision.

At a lunchtime workshop March 20th, we share tools for you to step in to and OWN your spotlight as a business owner.

THE LADYDRINKS LEADERSHIP SERIES: TIME MANAGEMENT TUESDAY

How to multiply your time. Can’t write that book you have been meaning to write? Can’t find time to work out? Two ways to manage your time better is to 1. Track it. Time Management expert Laura Vanderkam was a speaker at LadyDrinks several years ago. She asks readers of her books to track what they did, every hour for a week. This is eye opening for two reasons and I talk about that in this video 2. Figure out your peak time and build your day around it. I was in Productivity expert Ari Meisel’s workshop two weeks ago, and he talks about ‘peak time’ is when we do our best writing or our best strategic thinking. It’s important to build your day around this valuable chunk of time in a day and protect it.

Next Friday, March 20th, we host a virtual workshop

RECAP OF THE WEEK OF LADYDRINKS EVENTS

Tuesday, March 3rd was the London edition of the dinner series LadyDrinks is hosting in observance of International Women’s Day.

10 women were in attendance at the dinner at Jamavar in the Mayfair section of London. I ask the same four prescriptive questions at each dinner: List one win, one challenge you are grappling with, one resource you have to have, and one resource you need right now. Each woman answers in round robin fashion, weighing in with their own solutions to challenges as well.

Topics discussed:
Wins, honors and recent professional accomplishments
I got a major new client!
Do I keep managing two businesses or focus on one?
How do I uplevel and garner the next strata of client?
How do I get more speaking gigs?
How do I get paid my worth?
How do I reach new clients in new markets
Work-life balance and living life in chapters
Resources we have to share and resources we need right now

Thursday March 5th, in observance of International Women’s Day, LadyDrinks hosted one of its trademark event in Houston: A private tour of the Museum of Fine Arts, telling the stories of women-only artists. We have hosted this tour at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Louvre in Paris, The National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, DC, The Art Institute of Chicago, and the San Diego Museum of Art.

LadyDrinks member Hina Patel led the group and MFAH Senior docent Marianne van Arkel-Priest led the talk called “Female Factor.” She discussed the attitude towards women, their bodies, their sexuality and the evaluation of their work, all indicators for why it has been so hard for women to be accepted as professional artists. Afterwards, all the ladies headed to the MFA Cafe to introduce themselves and share what resonated from the tour with the group.

Topics discussed

Women artists and how we each still struggle to be seen.

How women are each other’s worst critics

Sexuality and gender equality is still prevalent today.

What can each of us do to help each other.

LADYDRINKS is a platform to connect professional women and be a resource to one another..
