Tomorrow, I am in conversation with LadyDrinks member Shruti Sharma Vazirani on steps to building a strong personal brand in Princeton

Steps to creating a powerful personal brand

Tomorrow I’m speaking in Princeton on the build of something that is inexplicably tied to your professional brand. Your personal brand. LadyDrinks members have been asking a question, and I answer it via video daily. Here are the top performing nuggets.

TOP NUGGETS

THE THREE NETWORKS YOU SHOULD BE BUILDING
Part of building your personal brand is creating a support network for success. The CEO of LIvely, Michelle Cordeiro Grant made a list of her fears when she first started her business, and then built a network around it. She made the people who could answer questions around her painpoints her best friends. Julia Pimsleur,  founder of the Million Dollar Masterclass I am currently enrolled in, says build three networks. Learn more here.

MAINTAINING AUTHENTICITY
Yesterday at book club, the ladies got into an intense discussion about how much authenticity is allowed in the workplace. One of the women found a colleague using her vulnerabilities against her.  Carla Harris, VP at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, spoke at my women’s co work space recently. She recommends being your true self. However, its important to toggle to your audience. Learn more here.

WHAT IS A LOUD LIST?
Who says we don’t learn from young people? I was on a long term project with the Rockefeller Foundation several years ago. One of the young consultants on the project eventually left and I thought he did something really clever. He had aggregated the emails of everyone he had worked with (It wasn’t a long list since he was fresh out of college) but he created a newsletter of sorts, updating everyone that he was leaving his job. He was moving on to xyz job. This was how you could get in touch with him. It was his LOUD LIST to stay on people’s minds. I thought it was very clever. Learn more here.

THOSE DARN MILLENNIALS

Thursday, I was in Milwaukee, spending Easter with my boyfriend’s family.  His sister in law is in management and sales for a large beauty name in the city. She was expressing how tough it is to engage, employ and retain millennials as a legacy brand. We had a conversation about how this next generation JUST has to be approached differently. Learn more in this video

DO  YOU KNOW THOUGHTFUL AND ENGAGED IN WOMEN IN SAN DIEGO?

I’m on a plane ONE more time this month.

This Friday, I am giving the keynote to 1200 Asian American women hoteliers at a luncheon in San Diego. I’ll be sharing my own personal story of becoming a journalist, my work with LadyDrinks, and some tactical advice that I share each day with my own women’s initiative.

This luncheon part of AAHOA’ s annual conference for the hundreds and thousands of Asian American hotel owners in the United States. Since I’m already there, I’m hosting LadyDrinks San Diego. Our featured speaker is Shelly Kapoor Collins, founder of the Shatter Fund, investing in women led ventures. Do you know any thoughtful and engaged women in San Diego I could invite? Please email me at joya@lady-drinks.com.
