Build Your Brand With Video This Thurs With The Head Of Global Video, Thrive Global

“The most important relationship you have is the one with yourself. Everyone else is not a must. It’s a plus.”

Diane von Furstenberg speaking at the #FastCompany Conference last week. She was a princess once upon a time, married to Prince Egon von Fürstenberg. She remembers being struck by an article in a magazine, with a photograph of two of them, saying they were “the perfect couple.” All she wanted, more than anything, was her independence. She wanted to have her own identity separate from “princess” and him. So, she started designing women’s clothes. She didn’t become known as a designer until after her divorce from the Prince and she moved to New York.

Dear LadyDrinks members,

I’m dashing off to the New York Women’s Expo at the Jacob Javits Center to stuff my brain with more good learnin’

A reminder that this Thursday we have a rare audience with Shalini Sharma. Until yesterday, she was the Director of Video for Fast Company. She is now the newly anointed Head of Global Video for Thrive Global, Arianna Huffington’s company.

Today videos–of any kind–are as important to building a brand as websites are. Statistics show that visitors to a website are inclined to stay and engage longer if there is a video.

Thursday, November 1st, I’ve partnered with Uma and am in conversation with Shalini. She will talk about her long career in video production and the do’s and don’ts of building branded videos today.

The final hurrah of the event: She and I will critique three videos from three pre selected entrepreneurs in the audience and offer critical feedback on what is working and what isn’t.

Don’t miss this interactive workshop and conversation with another South Asian role model.  We will focus on how to use video as a branding tool.  Buy tix Here: https://bit.ly/2N106F3

Recap of LADYDRINKS PRESENTS A SCREENING OF “RBG” EXAMINING RUTH BADER GINSBURG’S LIFE AND TALKBACK WITH FILMMAKER JULIE COHEN

Here is the photo album from our spectacular RBG event last Thursday at the National Arts Club. It was the second time I had seen the film, and my friend who accompanied me the first time, asked me what my takeaway was this go around. Ruth Bader Ginsburg learned from her mother to never argue. Use it as an opportunity to educate or illuminate. I also love that she pauses before giving an answer in an effort to be thoughtful and intelligent in her diction.

A big thank you to Rhonda Linnett Graber, Skylands Insurance Group, Rand Silver, AIG, Inderjit Sidhu, The Law Offices of Inderjit Sidhu, Kavita Mehra, LadyDrinks Board Member and Exec Dir. LADYDRINKS JANUARY NYC & NJ EDITION: FIRESIDE CHAT WITH AUTHOR FRAN HAUSER, “THE MYTH OF THE NICE GIRL”
I’ve had the pleasure of hearing Fran Hauser speak twice before and I’m so delighted to bring her messaging about women in the workplace to the LadyDrinks platform.

Fran spent 15 years in the digital media space, holding executive positions at Time Inc., AOL and Moviefone. She negotiated major deals (such as the sale of Moviefone to AOL),  and has written a book on how women can be ‘nice’ and ‘kind’ but still be ‘strong’ and ‘assertive’ in the workplace.

Today she is known as a startup investor and former President of Digital at Time Inc., and author of The Myth of the Nice Girl: Achieving a Career You Love Without Becoming a Person You Hate.

Learn as she and I engage in a conversation in the art of being ‘nice’ while navigating common work-related situations.

“I want the book to transform the image of what a successful leader looks like so that it’s not just someone who’s smart and demanding and tough and has high expectations, but it’s also somebody who’s kind,” says Hauser to Forbes Women. “That’s the higher level mission of the book. And I think the timing is perfect for it.”

Exact location will be disclosed as you purchase your ticket. There will be two occasions to hear her speak. Jan 17th, We will be in a private residence in Manhattan and you will get exclusive one-on-one coaching with the author about your assertiveness in the workplace. Buy tix here March 1st, we will be hosting a luncheon at a private home in Livingston, NJ and do the same. Buy tix here
